| Dear Babylon Bee Reader,
In October, Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) learned that U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland issued a memo directing the FBI and U.S. attorneys to develop strategies for investigating parents.
What had parents done to warrant this extreme response?
They expressed concerns at local school board meetings-concerns about Critical Race Theory (CRT) infused curricula and policies based on a radical gender identity ideology.
In fact, AG Garland issued the memo after receiving a letter from a national activist group, the National School Board Association. And it even appears that Education Secretary Miguel Cardona solicited the letter. The letter went so far as to compare concerned parents to "domestic terrorists"!
The action by AG Garland is a shocking instance of government overreach. It could stop-and maybe it already has stopped-parents, teachers, and even students from speaking freely.
ADF is here to help make sure that doesn't happen.
Here's the thing-we've seen a wave of disturbing information come out of school board meetings in the last year. Freedom of speech and freedom of thought are under attack.
And that's why it's so important that you use your voice now. Take just a few moments of your time to complete our survey on how public schools are doing in America. | TAKE THE SURVEY | Public officials are pushing radical curriculum on students, often against parents' wishes. And sometimes even behind parents' backs.
On top of that, school officials are blatantly violating students' and teachers' right to free speech. They're adopting policies that require teachers and students to promote ideologies they may disagree with-and they don't tolerate dissent.
In response, parents are going to their local school board meetings and voicing their opinions about what children are being taught in school.
That's their duty-and their right. But some people don't think so.
Terry McAuliffe, former governor of Virginia, said, "I don't think parents should be telling schools what to teach." President Barack Obama said parents asking questions at school board meetings was part of "phony, trumped-up culture wars."
Even the ACLU, a longtime advocate for transparency in government, has changed its tune.
The ACLU now opposes efforts to ensure that parents know what their children are being taught.
Time and time again, those who oppose the rights of parents reveal that they also oppose free speech. | MAKE YOUR VOICE HEARD | It's clear, anti-free speech policies and extreme political indoctrination are no longer isolated on college campuses. They're spreading, even to K-12 public schools.
ADF is challenging these policies and standing with parents, teachers, and students. In the last year, we've even created the Center for Parental Rights team. This team is dedicated to vindicating the constitutional rights of parents.
I'm betting that you're also concerned about what's happening in our public schools. Will you take just a few moments of your time to take our quick survey?
Schools and universities are supposed to be places where students learn, not where they're indoctrinated. That's why it's vital that parental rights and free speech are protected.
Please take our survey today. We look forward to hearing from you!
