Dear CHAC Community, First Friday in the Northside continues, Nov. 5th join us from 6pm-9pm at HourGlass Hair Studio 2555 46th Ave. Denver, CO 80211. As part of CHAC's Recuerdos 2021 CHAC is honored to end the Dia de Los Muertos season with the community celebration and Art Crawl, Friday, Nov. 5th in our partnership with 40 West and Pirate: Contemporary Art. This free event begins at 5:30 pm, and features district-wide oferendas created by local Latinx artists, fire dancers & Huitzilopochtli Aztec dancers. Festivities kick off from Pirate Art Gallery (7130 W 16th Ave, Lakewood, CO 80214) with a procession to Pasternack’s. Enjoy works of art by local artists, elementary school students, and grab light bites from food trucks. CHAC will also host a tribute to the Pirate's own Day of the Dead pioneer Bob Luna at the Pirate. Luna, who passed away in July, was an art activist who taught art to historically excluded students within Denver Public Schools, the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, Museo de las Americas and at various Denver Parks and Recreation Centers. Celebrating Dia de Los Muertos with everyone has been beautiful and up lifting. We thank you for celebrating this ancient custom with us.
