Looking at the World Through the Lens of a Photographer
"Looking at the World Through the Lens of a Photographer" opens April 1st from 6PM-9PM at the Northglenn Arts-Community Room 1 (1 E. Memorial Parkway, Northglenn, CO 80233).  This exhibit will run until June 24th.

Northglenn Arts is proud to partner with Chicano Humanities & Arts Council (CHAC) on Northglenn’s first-ever indoor public art exhibit. Northglenn Arts works to provide access to the arts for all people and have chosen to collaborate with CHAC due to their dedication to inclusivity and powerful storytelling.
Milagros del Corazón
Join the Chicano Humanities & Arts Council for "Milagros del Corazón" Miracles of the Heart Fundraiser 2022 on May 1st from 5:00-9:00 PM at Los Amigos Kitchen (https://losamigoskitchen.com). This event is free and open to the public.

For "Milagros del Corazón" CHAC artists and community members paint hand-crafted hearts, created with their heart and soul. These hearts are auctioned off during the evening’s silent auction, along with other artwork and gift baskets. This event is a perfect time to get ready for Mother’s Day while supporting CHAC Gallery and making it possible for them to continue serving the community. CHAC artists are excited and busy making hearts to send love out into the community.

CHAC Gallery is partnering with Los Amigos Kitchen for “Milagros del Corazón”. Dinner and drinks will be available for purchase.

Interested in creating a hand-crafted heart(s) for the auction?

Artists are still encouraged to create hand-crafted hearts, and with more time we are excited to allow for even more beautiful hearts to be made.

Contact [email protected] for information. CHAC will provide you with a blank wooden heart, for a donation of $5.00 to cover supplies, which you will then turn into one of your magnificent masterpieces!

Calabacitas
www.newmexico.org

  • 2 tablespoons butter

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

  • 2 pounds mixed summer squash (such as small zucchini, yellow crooked-neck or gold bar squash, and light green skinned calabacita), sliced thin or in bite-size cubes

  • 1 medium onion, chopped

  • 2 small tomatoes, preferably Roma or Italian plum, optional

  • 2 cups corn kernels, fresh or frozen

  • ¼ to ¾ cup chopped, roasted mild New Mexican green chile, fresh or thawed frozen

  • ½ teaspoon salt

  • Up to ¼ cup half-and-half, optional

  • 4 ounces (1 cup) grated Monterey Jack or Cheddar cheese, optional

DIRECTIONS
  1. Warm the butter and oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the squash, onion, and optional tomatoes. Saute for 10 to 15 minutes, until the squash is well softened.

  2. Stir in the corn, chiles, and salt, and cook covered for another 10 minutes until all vegetables are tender.

  3. Pour in the half-and-half if you wish and simmer briefly, until the liquid is reduced by about one-half.

  4. Serve hot. If using the cheese, scatter it over the calabacitas just before serving.
