Milagros del Corazón
Join the Chicano Humanities & Arts Council for "Milagros del Corazón" Miracles of the Heart Fundraiser 2022 on May 1st from 5:00-9:00 PM at Los Amigos Kitchen 7260 Pecos St., Denver, CO 80221 (https://losamigoskitchen.com).

For "Milagros del Corazón" CHAC artists and community members paint hand-crafted hearts, created with their heart and soul. These hearts are auctioned off during the evening’s silent auction, along with other artwork and gift baskets. This event is a perfect time to get ready for Mother’s Day while supporting CHAC Gallery and making it possible for them to continue serving the community. CHAC artists are excited and busy making hearts to send love out into the community.

CHAC Gallery is partnering with Los Amigos Kitchen for “Milagros del Corazón”. Dinner and drinks will be available for purchase. This event is free and open to the public.

CHAC Featured Artist Tammy Yancey

Journeying through my walk of life, I have always felt a deep connection with the earth, the sacred tierra, the plants, the animals, the people.

I am fascinated by the Indigenous people of the Americas. My photography and jewelry designs begin with questions and end with the telling of a story, images, and wearable art that I know will touch someone else’s soul as deeply as they have mine.

I might not know what I am supposed to be doing as far as where my photography unfolds, I just want to do it! I want to tell the stories of years gone by and how our lives are today. The jewelry designing is all about storytelling as well, memories of places I’ve been, the colors of my cultura, those all come out in the unique, one-of-a-kind pieces I create.

I identify often with our beloved Frida Kahlo when she said, “I used to think I was the strangest person in the world, there must be someone just like me who feels bizarre and flawed in the same ways I do. I would imagine that she must be out there thinking of me too. Well, I hope that if you are out there and read this and know that, yes, it's true I'm here, and I'm just as strange as you.” Tammy Yancey

Celebrating
Ometeotl: We are all one, Portal Weaving adult workshop and Ojos de Dios youth workshop were so much fun! We loved seeing everyone creating together! Thanks to CHAC artist Cal Duran for teaching others these beautiful and powerful tradition(s)!

"Woman of Light is my heart song to my people. Based on the lives of my ancestors and nearly a decade of research, this epic novel inspired by classic Western film and old Hollywood is my tribute to my homeland and the culturally diverse people who created me. Woman of Light is about what it means to be human, to make mistakes, and to learn about who we are.
I put my everything into writing this novel for over ten years, and now I am beyond honored to share this story and these beautiful characters with you, dear readers. Thank you for coming with me for my first novel, my second book. I hope you’ll love these characters and their great big story of survival and fate. I made them with love for all of us. Designer and illustrator: @talgoretsky and in the coming months I’ll share more about the cover process."

Thank you and Xo,

Kali
