Read More | When Should You Upgrade Your Technology? | | The January/February 2019 issue of Law Practice Magazine is the TECHSHOW issue - TECHSHOW comes early this year, with a February 27 start date. Don't miss this important issue of the magazine and early registration for the conference. My Simple Steps column in this issue discusses what you should consider when upgrading your technology. The pace of technology is rapidly increasing, bringing new products, apps, hardware and software wit the market constantly. Law firms have come to rely on technology as an integral part of their practices - from cloud storage solutions to practice management software, and from client portals to mobile devices. These technologies, if implemented correctly, can help lawyers save time, increase productivity and deliver a higher level of service to clients. But while it may be tempting, it isn't always realistic to make big changes to your technology every time a new gadget or software program that might be able to help your law firm comes along. So how do you decide when it's time to invest in changing or upgrading your technology? Learn more | ABA TECHREPORT 2018: Marketing | | As it does every year, from May through October of 2018, the American Bar Associationâs Legal Technology Resource Center conducted its Legal Technology Survey Report on the use of technology in the legal profession. The 2018 Survey was delivered electronically to close to 4,000 ABA members in private practice in the US and included firms of all sizes. I usually write a TECHREPORT on blogging and social media based on the survey, but this year, I decided to expand my article to marketing more generally. Click on the link below to read about the trends in legal marketing and what I think about them as a result of the 2018 survey. | Webinar: Managing Your Online Reputation: Leveraging Praise and Ethically Addressing Criticism This webinar was originally presented in November, 2018, but you can still access the webinar on demand. Modern consumers of legal services are increasingly turning to the internet to find and vet lawyers. Word of mouth referrals no longer take place solely through personal contact. This course will show lawyers why online participation matters, cover the basic ethics issues that arise with posting client feedback and responding to online reviews and provide some doâs and donâts for managing your reputation online. Youâll learn how to take advantage of positive reviews and client feedback and how to respond to negative online comments. Why online participation matters Ethical issues with lawyer reviews and ratings online Monitoring online commentary about you and your firm Effectively counteracting negative online reviews How to obtain good client feedback Using positive reviews and feedback to your best advantage A step by step approach to managing your online reputation You can get the webinar on demand on the ProLawCLE site here.
