Good morning!

I don’t follow basketball, but my mom is a huge Jazz fan. Judging by the sounds of disappointment she’s made during most of their games this season, I’m guessing that they haven’t won any championships.

Luckily for my mom — and any other Jazz fans out there — Will Hardy says he intends to coach the team to an NBA title, and he has the confidence of the front office and the players.

Hardy recently scoffed at rumors that he was planning to leave the Jazz.

“I’m all in, man,” he said at a press conference on Monday. “I’m not going anywhere ... I’m committed here. I’m under contract here. I told Ryan (Smith) and Danny (Ainge) and Justin (Zanik) that I want to be here for as long as I can.”

Here’s what Utah voters had to say about Trump tariffs. The results may surprise you

A new statewide poll reveals that Utahns are divided on President Trump’s tariffs.

The back-and-forth tariff proclamations and retractions have caused global markets to rise and fall dramatically and have erased trillions of dollars in stock value. Trump has promised that the economic losses would be temporary and urges patience.

How do Utah voters feel about this message?

According to a new Deseret News/Hinckley Institute of Politics poll, a slight majority of Utah voters are feeling uneasy about the short-term effects of tariffs.

When asked, “What impacts, if any, do you think Donald Trump’s proposed tariffs would have on Utah’s economy?”, 51% said they believe the outcomes would be somewhat or very negative, while 44% of respondents said the impacts would be somewhat or very positive.

Empowering Utah’s students, industry: Gov. Spencer Cox signs bevy of education bills

Education in Utah is increasingly being delivered in non-traditional ways — including the gigantic auto-shop classroom at Davis Technical College, where Utah Gov. Spencer Cox ceremonially signed several education bills on Monday.

The new legislation aims to better prepare Utah students for today’s evolving workplace. Cox said the collection of education-themed bills supports Utah students of all backgrounds.

Cox highlighted four new pieces of legislation:

  • HB219 is designed to help Utah charter schools improve their financial viability and accountability.
  • HB260 aims to enhance Utah secondary students’ readiness for the state’s workforce by establishing and facilitating industry-recognized credentials.
  • HB381 amends Utah high school graduation requirements to include a course on American constitutional government and citizenship.
  • HB447 helps establish and support expanded CTE programs in Utah high schools called “catalyst centers.”

Read more from Jason Swensen about how each of the bills will affect Utah students and industries.
