The air of negativity? Or the air of positivity? This is a question that has become very important to me. This summer I had the pleasure of hanging out with a bunch of entrepreneurial and start-up people, intellectuals, influencers, coaches, scholars, authors, inventors, visionaries, chefs, sommeliers, and more! For an entire two weeks! It was a fantastic experience. For a few reasons. One was it was just so interesting meeting all these people and hanging out with them. Secondly, together, and even individually, they created an air of possibility and positivity. Third, they implicitly (and even explicitly!) challenged me to be my best self. The air I breathed there for those two weeks invigorated me, and made me realize I was living cautiously, and that I was even fearfully holding myself back. I left that event fired up. Then I returned to my hometown, and almost immediately I could feel myself being pulled down into the depressing, limiting, and toxic trench of negativity, hopelessness, and fear. When I realized that, my eyes were opened. At least wider. I’m sure there are more openings to come. So now I ask myself: What air are you breathing? Negative? Or positive? And a lot of that depends on the kind of people you hang around. What’s the air you breathe lately? And why? What would be your story about this challenge right now? |
