In the last 28 days (26 December 2022 to 22 January 2023), over 11 million cases and over 55 000 new deaths were reported globally – a decrease of 25% and an increase of 13%, respectively, compared to the previous 28 days. As of 22 January 2023, over 664 million confirmed cases and over 6.7 million deaths have been reported globally. Many are at risk of serious health threats, including disease outbreaks, nutritional crises, and lack of access to essential medical services, The funds will enable WHO to respond to 54 ongoing emergencies, 11 of which are Grade 3.
