| The StoryThe Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show is prepping for Prime time. The Angels are back? Sort of. After a four-year hiatus, the fashion spectacle (now called “The Victoria’s Secret World Tour”) will strut onto Prime Video — with a new look. Meaning, Swarovski-crystal covered wings and blinged-out bras may not make their usual appearance. Instead, the part documentary, part fashion event will spotlight “a new generation” of global creatives and their designs, which will be worn by a diverse cast of models. It’s part of the brand’s larger makeover, emphasizing female empowerment. That also included recruiting a notable group of women, such as Megan Rapinoe and Priyanka Chopra Jonas, to help advise the company. And expanding into mastectomy bras and adaptive fashion. But not everyone is sold. Walk me through it. In case you missed last year’s Hulu docuseries, a quick refresh: In 2019, when VS brought the curtain down on its old show, it did so amid a wave of not-so-secret controversies — including alleged bullying and harassment, cultural appropriation, and a lack of diversity and inclusion. All of which may have contributed to its ratings drop and sluggish sales. Not to mention, the whole Jeffrey Epstein connection. Now, as the show stages its comeback, it also faces steeper competition from brands like Savage X Fenty, SKIMS, and Aerie, which emphasized inclusivity and comfort from the get-go. Still, Victoria’s Secret is the largest lingerie retailer in the US. And hopes are, with a revamped show, it’ll strike a new pose. theSkimm For the past few years, Victoria’s Secret has been talking the talk. On Tuesday, we’ll see if it can walk the walk. | |

Sunday Scaries, Who? | Here’s one tip for a better start to your week. Whether you like it or not, fall is officially here. And with that comes plenty of PSLs, “Gilmore Girls” reruns, and pumpkins you'll probably never carve. But those aren’t the only ways to, ahem, fall headfirst into the season… Cozy up to new home decor. Bring the season indoors with pumpkin-shaped pillows, leafy table runners, and plaid blankets. You could even DIY your own pumpkin-spice candle. Then, zhuzh up your outdoors with string lights, a fire pit, and, of course, lots of gourds. Start a new chapter. It’s spooky season, so there’s no better time to dive into a thrilling page-turner or a Halloween classic (hi, “Practical Magic”). You could also pick up one of fall’s most anticipated books, like Lauren Groff’s “The Vaster Wilds” or Jessica Knoll’s “Bright Young Women.” Oh and if you loved “Tom Lake,” here are some recs from Ann Patchett herself. Update your wardrobe. Not ready for your seasonal closet swap? Same. So for now, stock up on some transitional pieces, like loafers, cardigans, and trench coats — all of which are perfect for capsule wardrobes. Get a taste of fall. Embrace sugar, pumpkin spice, and everything nice with a few delightful desserts. Dig into soup season with recipes for French onion, ramen, and more. And toast the new season with something a little stronger than a PSL. |
