Week 9 Waiver Wire |
|
Quarterback |
Matthew Stafford -- The Rams-Seahawks game has the third-highest over/under in Week 9. We could see Matthew Stafford and Geno Smith get into a back-and-forth shootout; Seattle's defense has given up some big passing performances over the past month. |
Derek Carr - The Saints have a massive Vegas implied point total. Only six offenses are expected to score more point than New Orleans (25.75) in Week 9. |
Jameis Winston - I don't love the projected game environment against a grind-it-out Chargers team, but Winston is of course enticing after what we saw in Week 8. |
Running Back |
Kimani Vidal - I highlighted Vidal in last week's Friday newsletter where I looked at remaining schedules and rest of season rankings. I'm worried about J.K. Dobbins. He's being asked to handle the largest workload of his career and the early-season bye week means that he'll have to do so for 10+ weeks-straight. |
Tyjae Spears - Similarly, I'm worried about the Titans riding Tony Pollard into the dirt. Spears could absolutely capitalize on the late-season schedule if Pollard is sidelined during that time. |
MarShawn Lloyd - I loved Lloyd as a prospect! We could see the rook work his way into a significant role late in the season. |
Blake Corum - Same logic as Vidal. Early-season bye week + a bellcow RB1 who has an injury history has me stashing the team's RB2 everywhere. |
|
Wide Receiver |
Cedric Tillman - Here's a Tillman cut-up if you want to watch his targets with your own eyes and make up your mind on if he is worth a top waiver claim. The production is obvious, and the upside with Jameis Winston at QB is certainly exciting. |
|
Xavier Legette - Legette has not put up impressive per-route data, but he has looked the part (at times) on film. He's also looked out of position at times. His athleticism is strange, sometimes he looks really impressive and sometimes he looks clumsy. Overall, Legette seems to use his body well to create enough leverage to make plays with his lengthy frame. I think that he could offer Fantasy relevancy with competent QB play. |
Jalen Coker - Neither of Carolina's rookie receivers grades out particularly well in terms of the Fantasy Points Data Suite's separation metrics. Of the two, Coker's grades are slightly better. I talked about Coker on Monday's Beyond the Box Score if you missed that. His per-route production has been really strong so far. |
Tight End |
Dalton Schultz - With Stefon Diggs out for the season, I'd expect Schultz to pick up a lot of the slack in the short-intermediate area. |
Brenton Strange - If looking for a deep dart throw, it's possible that we'll see an expanded role for Strange with Jacksonville seriously hurting at WR heading into Week 9. He's been productive when given opportunities. |
Erick All - If you want a deep-league TE with sleeper upside, All might just be him. |
