| | Sunday, October 30, 2022 | Sunday in Week 8 was a fascinating day for Fantasy Football. We had a ton of scoring – 23.375 per team, up from 21.7 for the season as a whole – and it was pretty heavily concentrated among the best players in Fantasy. | The top three scorers at running back were all top-20 picks in Fantasy drafts: Alvin Kamara, Christian McCaffrey. Among the top three at wide receiver were A.J. Brown, DeAndre Hopkins, and Tyreek Hill; Hopkins wasn't a top pick because of a suspension, but he might have been a third-rounder otherwise. Among the nine players who scored at least 30 PPR points at RB, WR, or TE, Tony Pollard and D'Onta Foreman are the only names that really stand out, and they've been thrust into big roles because of injuries. | There also weren't many big injuries to notable players Sunday, which leads to a fairly underwhelming crop of potential waiver-wire targets this week. Obviously, we'd love to have great options to make it rain in FAB with, but given how many players have dealt with injuries of late, we'll take a relatively quiet week on that front happily. | There is one injury we'll be monitoring very closely this week, however: Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp suffered an ankle injury in garbage time of the team's loss to the Rams, something Rams coach Sean McVay said he was "kicking himself" over after the game. Hopefully, the injury isn't too serious, because that's one offense that definitely cannot afford to lose its best player. | | Kupp has been the only good thing about the Rams offense this season – no other player is even averaging 45 yards from scrimmage per game. McVay deserves some blame for having Kupp out there in the waning moments of a 17-point loss, and now we've just gotta hope it won't end up being too serious. Because I'm not sure there's a single player worth using on this offense if Kupp is out for Week 9 against the Buccaneers – I don't expect Allen Robinson, Tyler Higbee or Ben Skowronek to really step up to replace Kupp, and the running backs look like a mess after Ronnie Rivers led them with just 36 yards from scrimmage Sunday. | So, hopefully, the injury wasn't too serious, because that would be a gray cloud over what was otherwise a pretty great day for Fantasy. DeVante Parker was the only other player of note to suffer an injury he could not come back from; Jonathan Taylor (ankle), Tyler Higbee (neck), and Adam Thielen (knee) all briefly left before returning, so hopefully, there's no lingering issues there – we can't assume anything after Ja'Marr Chase's hip injury this week, but it looks like there's little to be concerned about there. | With that in mind, let's take an early look at the top waiver-wire targets coming out of Sunday's games. Hopefully, we can avoid injuries Sunday night and keep the clean streak going. | | Early Week 9 Waiver Wire Targets | | Here's who I'm looking at coming out of Sunday's action: | | Top targets: | Greg Dulcich, TE, Broncos (51%) Garrett Wilson, WR, Jets (74%) Rondale Moore, WR, Cardinals (56%)Darnell Mooney, WR, Bears (58%) Justin Fields, QB, Bears (49%) | For the rest of my top early priorities and why I'm targeting them, head here. | | | | | The Early Edge | | Attacking Third | Looking for the best picks against the spread, sharp action on the total and props you can take to the ticket window?
