| | Sunday, October 25, 2020 | There were some scares earlier in Week 7, but we enter play on Sunday with no games in question due to COVID concerns. Unfortunately, a busy injury report leaves us with perhaps more tough decisions than ever heading into the first lineup lock Sunday. | We're here to help you with those decisions. In today's FFT newsletter, I've got the latest injury updates for Sunday, plus your questions in the latest #AskFFT mailbag. Fantasy Football Today is live on CBS Sports HQ until kickoff, reacting to the latest news, going through rankings dilemmas, and answering your toughest questions for Week 7. We're also answering your questions on our Twitch stream starting at noon and going until kickoff — and you can always drop your questions on Twitter using the hashtag "#AskFFT" because the whole team is answering questions this morning. | Here's what else you need to know for Week 7: | Week 7 Prep: Start 'Em & Sit 'Em | Start 'Em & Sit 'Em: QB | Start 'Em & Sit 'Em: RB | Start 'Em & Sit 'Em: WR | PPR Cheat Sheet | Non-PPR Cheat Sheet | Waiver Wire | Biggest Questions | Trade Values Chart | Cut List | QB Preview | RB Preview | WR Preview | TE Preview | | Week 7 Injury Updates | | Here are the key injury situations we're watching out for Sunday, along with some potential fill-in options if you need help: | Quarterback | In: Sam Darnold (shoulder) | Thankfully, there aren't any significant issues at QB to worry about. However, if you want to get ahead of the Week 8 waiver wire, go see if Tua Tagovailoa is available as he's set to make his NFL debut as a starter next week and has huge upside. Also consider adding Teddy Bridgewater for his game against the Falcons or Jimmy Garoppolo, who gets the Seahawks. | Running back | In: Jeff Wilson (calf), Justin Jackson (knee), Devine Ozigbo (hamstring) Out: Aaron Jones (calf), Joe Mixon (foot), Raheem Mostert (ankle), Chris Thompson (COVID-19, Reserve) | Well, there aren't a lot of question marks here, now that Jones is officially inactive. But that's three must-start running backs sidelined for week 7 — in addition to Austin Ekeler, Nick Chubb, and Christian McCaffrey already out and Jonathan Taylor, Myles Gaskin, and Dalvin Cook on bye. | Fill-ins to consider: Giovani Bernard (72%) - If he's out there, Bernard is a must-add, and probably a must-start ... Jamaal Williams (68%)/A.J. Dillon (20%) - These two should split the work with Jones sidelined, but it's not exactly clear how they'll split work. Williams has been the primary backup and should be the starter, but it wouldn't surprise if Dillon ended up with more careers, especially near the goal line. Williams is probably the better start if you need one, but Dillon is an exciting emergency option ... J.D. McKissic (55%) - McKissic has been a solid PPR option of late, and that shouldn't change against a bad Cowboys defense. | | Wide receiver | In: DeAndre Hopkins (ankle), Julio Jones (hamstring), Denzel Mims (hamstring), Robert Woods (groin), Keenan Allen (back), A.J. Brown (knee) Out: Michael Thomas (ankle/hamstring), Jamison Crowder (groin), Emmanuel Sanders (COVID-19/Reserve), John Brown (knee), Sammy Watkins (hamstring) | Like with RB, there really aren't a lot of questions at this point, just holes that need filling. | Fill-ins to consider: Breshad Perriman (7%) - With Crowder out, Perriman should be the No. 1 option for the Jets in the passing game. Denzel Mims is also expected to make his return from IR in Week 7 and could be a factor, but I would rather start Jeff Smith if I were truly that desperate ... Tre'Quan Smith (50%) - With Thomas and Sanders out, Smith should be the No. 1 wide receiver for the Saints, though Alvin Kamara will be the No. 1 target, and Jared Cook could see a similar amount of targets as Smith ... DeMarcus Robinson (5%) - It was Robinson, not Mecole Hardman , who saw the increased role with Watkins out last week, and while I still like Hardman as a DFS player, Robinson is probably more likely to make a contribution, even if he doesn't have the upside Hardman does ... Gabriel Davis (5%) - Davis hasn't been consistent, but he has some solid upside with John Brown out. He had nine targets in Week 5 against the Titans with Brown out, and the Jets are an easy target. | Tight end | In: Robert Tonyan (ankle) Out: Austin Hooper (appendectomy), Tyler Eifert (neck) Fill-ins to consider: Logan Thomas (32%) - The role has been a bit inconsistent, as have the results, but Thomas showed his playmaking chops on a sweet touchdown last week, and gets that tissue-soft Cowboys defense. I like him as a streaming option in all formats ... David Njoku (15%) - Pretty much every Fantasy player has probably been burned by Njoku at some point by now, but with Hooper out and Njoku on the trade block, this could be a chance to up his value before the deadline. | | #AskFFT Mailbag | | If you want your questions answered, head to Twitter and use "#AskFFT" and we'll be answering them all morning. Here are some of the key questions I received Sunday morning, starting with one that many people asked: | What do you expect from Antonio Brown? | First off, I'll let you know that Dave Richard expects a lot from Brown, saying he should be a No. 2 WR for Fantasy once he gets up to speed. Me? I have extremely low expectations. Brown is one of the best receivers I've ever seen, but he's also 32 years old and hasn't played in basically a year and a half — he played one game in 2019 and three teams decided he just wasn't worth the trouble. Can he still be good? Sure, but we're already seeing how hard it is for wide receivers to stand out in Tampa's offense, with Tom Brady spreading the ball around a ton and not throwing deep nearly as often as Jameis Winston did last year. That has caused Chris Godwin and Mike Evans to fail to live up to expectations even when healthy, and now Brown is supposed to step in and be a Fantasy contributor? Personally, I wouldn't drop anyone I think has real starting potential for Brown, and if I did already add him, I would be trying to move him before he even gets on the field. His trade value will likely never be higher. | Jennifer: JaMycal Hasty or D'Ernest Johnson? | I don't have much faith Hasty is going to get many opportunities, as he has topped out at a 30% snap share the last three weeks and saw just four carries in Week 6. However, the game flow should allow for much rushing against the Bengals than they had against Pittsburgh, so I could see him getting to 10 carries in this one. Hasty could see a similar role, but Jeff Wilson seems likely to play and was ahead of Hasty on the depth chart before his injury so I assume he still will be. Johnson is the better option. | Nik: Who do I pair with DK Metcalf? Chris Godwin, Chase Claypool, Tee Higgins, or Cooper Kupp? | I'm usually a "Stick with your studs" guy, and I'll go with that here — start Godwin. Claypool is awesome, but we just don't know what the WR hierarchy is going to look like with Diontae Johnson healthy, and Higgins has somewhat similar questions with A.J. Green showing signs of life last week. | Philip: Playing Tee Higgins at WR — Which other two should play between JuJu Smith-Schuster, Cole Beasley, and Tre'Quan Smith? | I'm going with Smith out of this three. I'm trying to avoid the Steelers wide receivers if I can this week, because I just don't know what to expect as far as their usage, and while Beasley's got a great matchup, I just don't think he has much upside on a weekly basis. With Thomas and Sanders out, however, I could see an 8-10 target game for Smith. Ride with him. | Eric: Pick two RB and a flex — Kenyan Drake, David Johnson, Antonio Gibson, D'Andre Swift, Robby Anderson, Robert Woods? | I think Drake and Swift is the way to go at RB — the Lions are apparently planning on giving Swift a bigger role after his Week 7 breakout, as well they should. And at flex, I think I'm going with Woods. The Rams offense is a little scary right now, but they're still giving Woods plenty of opportunities and the way they manufacture touches for Woods in so many different ways makes me less concerned about a tough matchup. | Charles: Jones is out Sunday, which backup to use: Williams or Dillon? | If you're choosing between the two, I think it has to be Williams. I like Dillon as a plug-and-play option if you need someone to fill in, but the truth is, we just don't know what kind of role he is likely to have. I could see him being the primary rusher in Jones' absence, but I could also just as easily see Williams dominating touches. What gives Williams the edge is that his role in the passing game seems secured. | | | | | 24/7 Sports News | | Parlay Pick'em | Want your sports news and highlights straight without the noise?
