S.C. Ports reports record cargo volumes The S.C. Ports Authority reported its best monthly container volumes on record in August, handling 23,110 TEUs and 58,966 break-bulk tons last month. The ports authority board also received an update on the new Hugh K. Leatherman Sr. Terminal, which is on track to open in spring 2021 with five ship-to-shore cranes and 25 hybrid rubber tired gantry cranes. Ports authority issues revenue bonds The port will receive $547 million from a bonds issuance, the largest in port history. The proceeds will enable the port to finish construction of phase one of the Hugh K. Leatherman Sr. Terminal in North Charleston and help refund portions of the port’s outstanding 2015 bonds. |
