Summey wins 7th term; Charleston headed to runoff

North Charleston Mayor Keith Summey secured a seventh term in Tuesday’s elections while the Charleston mayoral race heads into a Nov. 19 runoff between Mayor John Tecklenburg and District 8 Councilman Mike Seekings. Dorchester County voters approved $68 million for new parks and recreation facilities and libraries.

East Cooper using new software to improve hip surgery

East Cooper Medical Center now uses the Radlink Surgeon’s Checklist software, which is meant to improve workflow efficiency and measurement reproducibility during joint replacement procedures.

Grants awarded for 24 water, sewer, stormwater projects

Rural Infrastructure Authority grants are awarded twice a year. The current round of grant recipients includes 24 projects in 19 counties, including a grant to the town of Sullivan's Island.
