Coast Guard expected to announce growth in Charleston

In his second State of the Coast Guard address, Adm. Karl Schultz is expected to announce investments in the Port of Charleston over the next five years that will grow Charleston into one of the largest concentrations of Coast Guard assets in the country. Schultz will also discuss the Coast Guard’s response to Hurricane Dorian and its 2021 budget request.

Tourism generates record $23.8 billion in S.C.

The S.C. Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism released 2018 totals of tourism business activity on Monday. The department said 2019 indicators suggest more growth in what would be the 7th straight year of record improvement.

Hospitality association to host 60-employer job fair

The Lowcountry Hospitality Association will host a job fair on Feb. 26 with representatives from more than 60 employers from the hotel and food and beverage industries. Job openings for all skill levels will be available.

Lowcountry Land Trust is expanding its annual charity Sporting Clays Shoot to a three-day event March 27-29. The weekend kicks off with the first Women’s Shoot, an invitation-only event, followed by two days of sporting clays.
