Reducing patient safety risks in medical rooms | Upcoming Webinar Date: Thursday, February 18, 2021 Time: 01:00 - 02:00 PM EDT Duration: 1 Hour Medical errors are the third leading cause of death in the United States. Situational awareness, monitoring, and remediating risks in the clinical setting are hallmarks of the high reliability necessary to prevent patient harm. Hospitals are a critical part of our healthcare system and a place where very ill people can get excellent, and often life-saving, care. However, it has been well established that hospitals can also be very dangerous for patients, especially during the current pandemic. During this session we will review a unique interactive method designed to increase situational awareness among healthcare workers (including assessing risks posed by COVID-19) via simulation in an interactive setting with the goal to prevent medical errors. Learning Objectives Identify the role different healthcare workers have in preventing patient safety risks Describe common and high risk medical and environmental errors Demonstrate the value of the Medical Mayhem Room method to reinforce the safety risks that may occur in a patient hospital room Acknowledge the safety risks involved for group learning activities during the COVID-19 pandemic Describe how to adapt the “Medical Mayhem Room” approach to accommodate learning required for COVID-19 safety Can't make the live webinar? Register anyway and we'll send you a link to the on-demand recording. |
