This summer, we're on a mission to highlight hidden gems across the state through our Unsung Alabama series!

The series will tackle not just places, although we plan on doing plenty of that, too, but will also share the stories of the people, businesses and food across our state that we think deserve a little more love.

In its first week, our Unsung Alabama series got things rolling with a look at summer bucket list destinations off the beaten path (for those hoping to do a little traveling); the story of Muscle Shoals' FAME Gang (for music and history buffs alike); details about Foley’s Graham Creek Preserve (for people who love nature but not crowds); and an Alabama chef turned popular food blogger (because who doesn't want more recipes?) Plus, later today we'll have a look at a Wedowee restaurant that doesn't make you choose between barbecue and ice cream.
