Today is Protect My Public Media Day, and we're asking you to take action.
Hi Friend,
What you have helped us build is at risk. American Public Media (APM) is the public radio organization that brings you broadcast, podcast, and online programs like Marketplace, YourClassical, The Splendid Table, and Brains On! Universe. In addition to your support, APM receives important funding from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, a federal funding source for public media. This funding is currently under direct threat. We’re committed to keeping APM programs strong and accessible to everyone. But to do so, we need your help. Today is Protect My Public Media Day, a national day of action to champion public media. We’re asking you to participate by sharing your story and helping to secure the future of public media. Show your support by posting what public media means to you on social media using #protectmypublicmedia. You can use these Facebook, LinkedIn, Bluesky links to get started.
Defunding public media would lead to the collapse of the national public media structure. Here’s what’s at risk: Alerting communities and keeping them informed in times of natural disasters – the only local news outlet to do so in many parts of AmericaProviding paywall-free access to important local, national, and global news Amplifying local culture, history, and music through engaging programming and storytelling Providing opportunities for communities to connect through events, forums, and on-air conversations American Public Media is more than just a public media organization– we’re a nonprofit community service, enriching lives and addressing challenges across the country. If public media has ever informed, inspired, or supported you, now is the time to take action.
Sincerely, Chandra Kavati President, American Public Media P.S. Now more than ever, your gift makes a profound impact. Please support your local public media stations and donate today to help secure the future of public media.
