| | John, we know it’s been a rough few weeks for everyone, everywhere—and the bad news seems relentless. So here at the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC), we wanted to give you a break by sharing some good news with you today. While it’s true that we’re the nation’s clearinghouse and comprehensive reporting center for missing children’s cases in the United States, we’re also the clearinghouse and comprehensive reporting center for missing children who come home safely. Every day we hear the stories of how children are found, rescued, or reunited with their families. We invite you to share in the joy and relief that those families and children feel—and to celebrate the heroism of everyone involved in each recovery and prevention story. Recovery stories are full of law enforcement officers, social workers, teachers, and everyday heroes going above and beyond in their jobs to help kids get back to living their lives. Some of our favorite stories even involve the children themselves displaying inspiring courage, preparedness, and quick wit in the face of danger. She connected her with the counseling and therapy she needed to deal with the trauma of trafficking and re-enrolled her school. Calvillo started helping her plan for a future that looked bright for the first time in a long time. Everyday heroes like Michael, whose job as a digital forensics specialist at a school system alerted him to the need for internet safety education. Michael now volunteers to teach internet safety to parents and children at his church where he uses NCMEC’s NetSmartz internet safety presentations to offer regular classes to teach parents how to talk to their kids about staying safe online. Michael told us... click here to read full blog... These are just a few feel good stories we’ve heard recently. If you want to read more stories of the heroes that help keep our kids safe, visit our blog and follow us on social media. If you have stories of heroism or want to share how you protect kids, reply to this email. We’d love to include your good news story in a blog post one day. Stay safe and healthy.
