| Good evening, How optimistic are you feeling for the future? The advent of the Omicron variant has certainly burst a few bubbles in the past week, with a small number of restrictions introduced and a flurry of people heading to vaccination centres. But despite this, we do have cause for optimism. This time last year, cases were rising at an alarming rate. So much so, that we eventually ended up in another lockdown which meant people were unable to see family and friends at Christmas. While there are still a large number of Covid cases - 50,000 a day - the number of people going into hospital is actually falling. Plus scientists are now suggesting that our three jabs may be enough to keep us safe from the worst of this virus. Understandably, hospitality venues are becoming concerned as some larger companies cancel festive parties. But here in Lancashire, that doesn’t seem to be the case and many restaurants are already booked up for Christmas meals and celebrations. Let’s hope it stays that way and we can all enjoy a traditional Christmas again at last. Until next time, take care. Gillian | |
