The remarkable Dr Atar

Dr Evan Atar runs the only surgical hospital in South Sudan's remote Upper Nile State. A lifeline for over 200,000 refugees and locals, Dr Atar is so committed to his job that he lives in a tent and sees his family just three times a year. Dr Atar’s extraordinary efforts have been recognised by UNHCR’s prestigious Nansen Refugee Award.

Meet Dr Atar

Because of you...

Construction of the Australia for UNHCR-funded Vocational Training Centre is almost complete and the centre will open early next year. Thousands of young refugees and locals in Uganda’s Kyaka II settlement will have the opportunity to obtain vocational skills and build a better future for themselves and their families. Thank you!
