View email online | | | | | | | | | Jan 24, 2022 | | | | | | | | Good evening, You don’t have to wander too far off the beaten track these days to realise that we, as a country, have a massive problem with fly-tipping.
There are country lanes on the edge of every town and city which are being used to dump waste illegally.
And for some of the people who live nearby or own the land it can be a living hell - and can be costing them a fortune to get it cleaned up.
One of the issues seems to be that just about anyone can register to remove waste. There are few checks and in one case to illustrate the point a man was able to register his (dead) dog as a waste disposal business.
It doesn’t take a genius to work out that if this is the case, it could become a lucrative industry and one in which the perpetrators are extremely difficult to track down.
But given the vast majority of fly-tipped items are household items like sofas, fridges and freezers, we all have the opportunity to take responsibility.
