Carjackings in the city climbed 160% during the pandemic -- and few have ended with arrests, our Jeff Adelson and Matt Sledge report. Speaking of carjackings, DA Jason Williams held a news conference late Wednesday to announce some indictments in one spree that did result in arrests. He said the four people involved are accused of eight armed robberies in a single day. Eight. Federal judge dies: A long-serving federal judge has died. U.S. District Judge Martin Feldman, who was appointed to the federal bench in New Orleans by President Reagan in 1983, suffered a heart attack Wednesday night. He was 87.
