The President of the European Central Bank recently went on an Irish television show to address economic concerns from the European public. Unfortunately, if anyone had paid attention in economics class, she seemed to be caught in a lie.

Inflation certainly does not come from "nowhere" — as author Federico Rivi explains, inflation has a very tangible origin in expansion of central bank balance sheets. An increasing money supply leads to higher prices, and this in turn is what the public is referring to as "inflation."

Bitcoin mining often garners undeserved criticism of its energy usage, and the impacts on the environment that this may have. But the reality is, a large portion of Bitcoin mining is a positive action for the environment — much of it is based on renewable energy or waste energy. 

One method of mining bitcoin in a "clean" fashion is growing in popularity; using landfill garbage. Author Zack Voell dives into this growing phenomenon, highlighting that even the White House noticed the growing trend of landfill-based bitcoin mining.

And garbage, Voell says, "has some unique advantages as a fuel source that readers should not overlook." He continues to describe its abundance, its worldwide distribution and how, "this form of energy is truly stranded and wasted, making miners not just a buyer of last resort for this resource, but also one of the only buyers."
