Latest independence poll As the US election is demonstrating, the only poll that truly matters is the one taken at the ballot box. However, we've now seen another study released today which makes happy reading for those who want Scotland to leave the UK. Scots support holding a second referendum if pro-independence MSPs win a majority at Holyrood by a margin of almost two to one, the new poll has suggested. The research was part of a survey by Survation, which put support for Scottish independence at 54 per cent. Do you agree with the majority here? Or do you feel differently? Police filmed pushing kilted bagpiper to ground Police are investigating after a video emerged which appears to show officers pushing a kilted piper to the ground near a Remembrance Sunday event. The footage, which is circulating on social media, shows a man in Scottish dress playing the bagpipes in the Whitehall area of London near the Cenotaph. The confrontation happened at a protest about the impact of strict coronavirus restrictions on marking Remembrance Sunday events in the capital. North Coast 500 plans 'road to recovery' Tourism leaders, businesses and police are working on a plan to manage the influx of tourists expected to the North Coast 500 driving route next year. NC500, the business group that promotes the driving route through the north and west Highlands, said it was planning for the expected re-emergence of tourism from early 2021. Research has found that three-quarters of those who had cancelled plans to drive part of the North Coast 500 this year hoped to join the route in 2021, with a new trend in ‘home-grown’ tourists drawn to the north also identified.
