He never runs away or hides like most cats do when alarmed. Bogey's behavior is far more dog-like. He heads straight to the front door, determined to sniff out the facts on whether the person who rang the bell is friend or foe. Given his personality, I worried about what would happen when I brought home a rescue pup named Winston. Would Bogey hiss and swipe at his new housemate? Determined to make the situation work, I introduced them slowly. Bogey eyed Winston with a wary gaze, his tail straight up and his hair puffed out so far that he looked enormous. Winston's tail wagged to a blur, and he dropped into play bow position, clearly showing he wanted to be friends.
