Welcome to the November edition of Wanneroo Link.

This month, we opened a powerful photographic exhibition at Wanneroo Gallery called Ink in the Lines and proudly reaffirmed our commitment to reconciliation by adopting a new Reconciliation Action Plan.

Diversity celebrated at the Wanneroo Festival

Cold weather didn’t keep away thousands of community members who came together to enjoy another successful Wanneroo Festival.

The lively, family-friendly event celebrated the traditional music, food and dance of our multicultural community.

Local artists put on some fantastic performances and a spectacular drone show capped off the night.

Donate to the Mayor's Christmas Appeal

We are welcoming donations to the Mayor’s Christmas Appeal until Monday 28 November.

If you are able to, please consider donating toys and non-perishable food to support locals who need a helping hand this Christmas.

Donations can be placed in one of the appeal bins located at the City’s Civic Centre.

City endorses new Reconciliation Action Plan

The City has reaffirmed its commitment to reconciliation by adopting a new Reconciliation Action Plan.

The 2023-2025 Plan details the City’s commitment to working towards improving relationships, opportunities and respect between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and other Australians.

It outlines the actions the City will take over the next two years, building on the work already undertaken, which includes increasing Noongar naming of localities and areas across the City.

New free community Christmas event

You are invited to the City's first ever Christmas Fiesta!

Join Santa for a festive parade through the Wanneroo Town Centre at this free event, which will include music, market stalls, food, children’s activities and an ice-skating rink.

The Christmas Fiesta will be held Saturday 10 December, from 5pm-9pm in the Wanneroo Town Centre.

2023 free Community Calendar pick-up

The 2023 Community Calendar contains essential information such as waste collection dates, school and public holidays and free community events.

The Calendar is now available for collection at the City’s Civic Centre and Wanneroo, Clarkson, Girrawheen and Yanchep/Two Rocks libraries.

Exhibition tells stories of loss and love through tattoos

Our new exhibition, Ink in the Lines, shares the moving stories of modern Australian veterans and the communities they have built through their tattoos.

Now showing at the Wanneroo Gallery, the exhibition is thought to be the first in Australia to explore the use of tattoos in the military.

Head to the Gallery, 10am to 4pm, Wednesdays to Saturdays.

Riverlinks All Abilities Playground project progresses

The Riverlinks All Abilities Playground is a step closer to completion after the guiding concept designs were endorsed last month.

All abilities play spaces are accessible to all, including children with mobility issues and those with cognitive, sensory or social-emotional challenges.

The project has been made possible by a $2.6 million State Government contribution and will now progress to the detailed design phase.

Wanneroo Christmas Day lunch

The City is proud to support the Rotary Club of Mindarie’s Wanneroo Christmas Day lunch.

The free event at Irene McCormack College in Butler is open to people living in the Wanneroo area who are in need or who have no family or friends to share lunch with on Christmas Day.

Kingsway Open Day

There will be sports galore and so much more at Kingsway Indoor Stadium's family-friendly open day!

Join us on Saturday 17 December for children’s activities, prizes, sign up for adult social sports and have a bite to eat from one of the food trucks.

Bulk green waste

The City’s bulk green waste collection kicks off in January.

Suburbs first up include Banksia Grove, Carramar, Ashby, and Tapping.

School holiday fun

Get ready for our school holiday activities!

With excursions, sports, arts & crafts, and workshops held across the City, we have something for everyone to enjoy.

Our school holiday program runs from the end of December to Friday January 29.
