Deputy Mayor Brett Treby Splendid Park cycling facility works underwayWorks are progressing on the Splendid Park cycling facility in Yanchep, which on completion will feature a full criterium-width track that winds its way around the park’s existing ovals and sport court facilities. The cycling track, which will be the first of its kind in the State, will support all levels of cyclists, from beginners to elite riders. The facility is set to attract State-wide sporting tourism as its dimensions, together with a track timing system, purpose-built registration area and event hub, will make it a premier venue for cycling events. Nyitting Wanneroo piece proudly displayed in Council ChamberThe City has proudly unveiled local Noongar artist Courtney Hill's bespoke artwork, Nyitting Wanneroo, in our Council Chamber. The piece translates thousands of years of local storytelling, capturing the artist’s interpretation of the Wanneroo region during the Nyitting or Creation time, to take people on a journey through the City's Aboriginal history. An impressive print of the artwork hangs in our Council Chamber and you can check out the original piece in our Civic Centre reception area. Warradale clubroom upgrade given green lightCommunity sporting clubs in Landsdale and surrounds will soon benefit from an upgrade of Warradale Park clubrooms, following the approval of a tender for the works. The project includes construction of new unisex change rooms, a first aid room and umpire's room and an upgrade of toilet facilities in the adjoining Warradale Community Centre. Construction of the facility is expected to begin in August and take about six months to complete.
