Deputy Mayor's Message

Welcome to the April edition of Wanneroo Link.

It is set to be a busy end to April in the City, with several exciting events on the calendar.

The 2022 Bunnings Trade Perth SuperNight will be held at Wanneroo Raceway on Saturday 30 April to Sunday 1 May. I am proud the City of Wanneroo will again host the Supercars event, with fans guaranteed to get a buzz watching the cars under lights.

The City is also a proud sponsor of The Marina Mindarie’s free Toast to the Coast event on Saturday 30 April. Enjoy gourmet food stalls and tastings along with Western Australian wine, cider and craft beer tastings, a selection of street food stalls, street performers, live music and roving entertainment for the whole family.

Finally, a shout out to the City’s Waste Services team, who have been recognised in two categories in the 2022 WasteSorted Awards. Our multilingual waste education resource, the ‘Talking My Language’ toolkit, is a Waste Innovation Award finalist, and the Waste Services team is in the running for Waste Team of the Year. Congratulations to everyone involved on this well-deserved recognition!

Supercar extravaganza set to wow in Wanneroo

Do fast cars get your adrenalin pumping? Get excited for the return of the Bunnings Trade Perth SuperNight to Wanneroo Raceway this Saturday and Sunday (30 April – 1 May).

The City of Wanneroo is proud to support Perth’s first supercars round since 2019. The two-day extravaganza will see V8 SuperUtes, Historic Touring Cars, Radical Sportscars and Supercars take to the track across the weekend.

Experience the Sunset Coast

The City of Wanneroo has partnered with Destination Perth to bring residents a unique trail experience along Perth's Sunset Coast – a 50 kilometre strip of coastline that stretches from Two Rocks to Scarborough.

The Sunset Coast Immersive Trail invites people from near and far to discover Perth's most significant historical sites and take a step back in time through augmented reality (AR). The trail contains seven historical sites, including the 10th Light Horse Trail and Perry's Paddock right here in the City of Wanneroo.

Toast the Coast this Saturday!

The City of Wanneroo is also a proud sponsor of The Marina, Mindarie’s free Toast to the Coast event this Saturday 30 April.

The much-loved festival celebrates local produce, growers and curators. Browse the gourmet food stalls and tastings, street performers, live music, roving entertainment and kid's activities on offer.

Coming soon to Wanneroo Gallery

Back by popular demand, travelling Anne Frank exhibition ‘Let Me Be Myself,’ returns to the Wanneroo Gallery on 4 May.

The thought-provoking exhibition tells the personal story of Anne Frank in the historical context of her time, highlighting the relevance of her experiences in contemporary society in relation to prejudice, discrimination and exclusion.

Yanchep now home to Yarning Circle

Kalbarri Park in Yanchep is now home to a yarning circle, a place to talk, educate and build respectful relationships.

The yarning circle features six wooden poles, painted by students from Yanchep Secondary College to reflect the Six Noongar Seasons.

Supported by the City of Wanneroo, Aboriginal artist Sharyn Egan, local cultural consultant Derek Nannup, Yanchep Police and students and staff from Yanchep Secondary College worked together to create this wonderful community space.

Explore the past

All mothers, caregivers and their little ones are invited to a special Mother’s Day session of 'It’s All About the Past' at Wanneroo Regional Museum on 4 May from 10am to 12.30pm.

This free, self-led program runs weekly throughout the school term and is suitable for children aged two to five and their caregivers.

COVID-19 update

From today, visitors to City facilities will no longer be required to wear a mask or provide proof of vaccination.

Please note that mask wearing is still encouraged where physical distancing is not possible.

The City will continue to monitor and act upon the latest advice from the WA Government.

Bulk waste collection schedule

The City’s bulk waste verge collections get underway later this year, starting in Koondoola in May. Head to our website for more information on when and how to correctly place bulk waste on the verge.
