I hope you are all managing to keep warm as winter shows her stormy side, however good news for the ski fields and our school programmes with all of that snow that I hope is falling up there. Dance Programme Ezra has our students already well rehearsed and they are loving throwing themselves into their dance moves. Every year I am delighted with what the Dance Curriculum team does. There is always great enthusiasm on the part of our children and they love watching Ezra, our instructor (and partner in the Dance Curriculum company) dancing and modelling the moves for them. This Friday 2nd August are the two performances for parents: Pods 1, 3, 7 at 9.15 - 10.15am Pods 2, 4, 6 at 2 - 3pm Please enter through the main hall door and take a seat ready to start the dances at 9.15am or 2pm, as we will start as soon as all the pods arrive after roll call. Upper Clutha Primary School's Music Festival The count down in on for our two performances at the Lake Wānaka Centre next Wednesday 7th August and Thursday 8th August at 6.30pm. The schools involved in this with us are Hawea Flat, Holy Family and Take Kārara. The best night for Wānaka Primary parents to attend is Thursday, as we have singers in the massed choir, members of our band, our Junior Choir (Year 2 and 3) and now also a dance group performing. But you are welcome to book either night, so get in quickly as numbers are restricted due to the extra staging in front of the main stage. This year Take Kārara School are selling tickets online for the Music Festival - there are no sales from school offices. Please purchase your tickets HERE We are taking our band and choir to the Take Kārara School Hall tomorrow (Wednesday 31st) for a practice. We will be transporting the children by minivans to Take Kārara leaving school as close to 9.00am as possible. If you are dropping your child off there tomorrow morning, please ensure you let the school office know by 8.30am. We will transport all choir and band members back to WPS by minivan and staff cars if needed. We will arrive back by 12.30pm. Ministry of Education Allocated Teachers Only Day We have brought this day forward and it is now taking place on FRIDAY 6th SEPTEMBER. This allows us to train with a Ministry of Education Māori advisor and put in place programmes. School is closed for instruction for this day. Please make alternative arrangements for your children. |

The Great Kiwi Circus We still have some tickets for The Great Kiwi Circus, which we advertised last term. The Great Kiwi Circus is bringing the magic of a live circus show to regional towns and cities across New Zealand. The Great Kiwi Circus is a fun packed 90-minute circus show to suit children with additional needs and their families, as well as children and families in the community who have experienced a tough time. The show will be grounded by a fantastically funny Ringmaster. The team endeavour to present the children and caregivers with different types of circus acts that change each year to keep it fresh and current. This show will be held at The Lake Wanaka Centre on Wednesday 21st August at 6pm. WPS Swimming Competition Today 75 children from Year 4 to 6 competed at the Wānaka Primary School Swimming Competition at the Wānaka Recreation Centre. Results from this competition will be out in the coming day as we sort the top 6 for each event who will qualify for the Upper Clutha Competition on Monday 5th August. An email will be coming out to those that have qualified tomorrow (Wednesday). Our swimmers were all very competitive and we had many comments from the public and the pool on the values, attitude and behaviour of our kids, despite the pool being 7 degrees colder than normal! Many thanks to the pool for the set-up, all the parent help, and the Swim Club for assisting in running a very smooth event. We look forward to competing against Hawea Flat, Holy Family, and Take Kārara on Monday. |

The framework is based on international evidence and is helping New Zealand schools build a culture where positive behaviour and learning is a way of life. Each fortnight we focus on a school wide goal to encourage positive behaviours. The current goal is: 'We listen to each other and follow instructions'. |
