Level 2 continues for the next couple of weeks Thank you all for your continued support and patience upon our full return to school. We have had a high percentage of students return in the last week, with absences being due to illness rather than self-isolating. We have easily adapted the protocols of level 2 to a relatively normal school day. We have loved greeting and farewelling our students as they enter and leave the school grounds, and connecting with you the parents. As we continue with level 2 we will still be asking children, parents and staff to comply with physical distancing as much as possible, staying away from school if even slightly unwell, and having parents pick up and drop off children at the school gates. The leadership team will continue meeting and greeting next week. We are still required to have less than 100 adults in the school grounds and to track and trace all adults coming into school, therefore if you need to come into school for any reason please ring the school office first. The leadership team have been impressed with the calm and positive behaviour of children as they enter and leave school without parents. We would suggest that once we do open our gates, parents consider drop off and pick up, especially in the morning, instead of parking and coming into school. Children can then get themselves ready for class by 9am. An increase in self-organisation and responsibility by children is a definite plus for us. Well done to all of the parents who have been dropping off on Totara Terrace and Kings Drive and enabling their children to walk into school by themselves - this has kept down the congestion of cars. The Ironside Drive drop off and pick up has been awesome as parents have followed the rules and kept traffic moving. Yesterday there were some issues at the dental clinic car park, with careless driving and cars backing out suddenly. This was a bit disappointing after a very successful pick up drop off the week before. PLEASE KEEP OUR CHILDREN SAFE. Consider using a safe meeting place out of the school grounds to meet your child so they can walk to you and you do not have to navigate the stresses of the car park. We are continuing to promote hygiene practices of washing and sanitising hands and coughing or sneezing into our elbows with an arm across the face. We are maintaining distance within the class whilst working and regularly cleaning classroom surface 'touch' points. Achievement Reports At the Board Meeting last week Jason presented the report findings on our Oral Language programmes and children's progress around the Peli screening, carried out on all of our new entrant children. Kerry presented our PAT findings and our writing moderation undertaken from Year 2 up. Included in this week's newsletter is the mathematics PAT results - click here to view. The data from such normed assessments enable us to track our school and year level performance against national norms. We monitor cohorts as they progress through the school, and identify students who may need extra support in one of our literacy or maths accelerated programmes. |
