Term Dates Post Lockdown A number of parents have asked about term dates and holidays. In essence Term 1 was made shorter by 2 weeks and term 2 will thus be 2 weeks longer. This week is week 6 of a 12 week term - 6 weeks until the end of term, Friday 3rd July, and the July holiday break. Term 3 will start on Monday 20th July. At this stage I am unsure of the final date of term 4 but it is likely to be sometime in the week beginning 14th December. Green Weeks of Learning As a number of sporting, cultural and other events have been cancelled this term, teachers aim to capitalise on having less disruptions and concentrate on teaching and learning. It will be good to harness student engagement and progress without interruption for the next 7 weeks. Please ensure children are only absent if they are unwell or for a very essential reason, so we can maximise all of our students learning. Community Engagement and Communication Plan The Board and leadership team are finalising our Community Engagement Plan for the year. We would love to hear from you about any topics, or issues you would like to see as part of that plan. These could be areas where you would like to be informed or consulted about, or involved in. Please email any thoughts, ideas etc to [email protected] or [email protected]. After the next Board meeting, when the plan is finalised, it will be shared with you via our newsletter and website. Standardised Achievement Data As mentioned in the newsletter last term, we have carried out our P.A.T testing and our writing moderation, and over the next 2 newsletters we will share the results with you. These P.A.T tests have national data and trends that we can use to compare ourselves with national norms. We have been using these assessments for over 10 years so have a good picture of the capabilities of our year groups as a cohort as they track through the school. We can also compare these trends and the analysis with other years. Please find a summary of the listening and reading comprehension reports by clicking here. Year 4-6 students complete all of the tests with year 3 students only completing the listening comprehension. You are welcome to talk to classroom teachers about your child's performance in these tests, and they will also be available for our mid year reporting. We are looking at holding the mid year reporting cycle at the beginning of term 3 because of the Lockdown and missed days at school. We have taken notice of your feedback after the end of year reporting last year and have updated our written report, which will then be set up on our student management system and sent to you from the parent portal as we have previously done. We didn't do this at the end of last year as we were trialing a format. |

Wānaka Primary Netball Netball Upper Clutha have been working hard behind the scenes with Netball NZ, the NZ Government and the QLDC for our community netball programmes. Who knows what the 2020 season will look like, but it is very much hoped we will be able to get our netball girls and boys back onto the court. There are many options being discussed, and as soon as the Wānaka Primary Netball committee know more, we will be in touch with you. We have all of our coaches in place, and we are ready to go! Please keep a look out for a questionnaire that will be emailed to all registered players soon. If you have any questions, please email Barb Macandrew on [email protected].
