The period for which people with coronavirus symptoms have to self-isolate is to increase to 10 days in England, Health Secretary Matt Hancock is expected to announce. Currently, people with a new continuous cough, high temperature or loss of taste or smell must stay at home for seven days. But ministers want to avoid a resurgence of the virus in the UK. BBC health correspondent Nick Triggle says extending the length of isolation acts as a "warning against complacency".
It comes as a report warns there are signs that feelings of solidarity developed within communities during lockdown are beginning to fray. The Together campaign aims to help the country navigate through what is expected to be a significant recession. And in the foreword to its report, the Bishop of Leeds, the Right Reverend Nick Baines, writes: "We are entering a period of deep economic uncertainty, one that will heighten existing inequalities and strain our society further still."

Google's relationship with smaller firms and their content, Amazon's treatment of sellers on its site, Facebook's acquisition of competitors, and Apple's percentage take on every App store purchase... All have proven controversial. And, for the first time, the heads of the four tech giants appeared together before a US congressional anti-trust committee to defend them. With critics demanding the businesses be broken up, Democrats pressed the tech titans on competition issues. But Amazon's Jeff Bezos argued: "Just like the world needs small companies, it also needs large ones. There are things small companies simply can't do." Republicans, meanwhile, pressed the men about how their companies managed information and whether they were marginalising conservative views.

A quarter of the UK's native mammals are at risk of extinction, according to the first review of the status of each species by the Mammal Society charity. The Scottish wildcat and the greater mouse-eared bat are in the critically endangered category, meaning they are the most severely threatened. Although more familiar to many of us, the red squirrel and water vole are just one category behind, in endangered, while the hedgehog and hazel dormouse are among the animals classed as vulnerable. "What this is clearly saying is that we have to act now - we can't continue on this same trajectory," says the society's Prof Fiona Mathews.

The Daily Telegraph focuses on the self-isolation period increasing to 10 days for people with coronavirus symptoms in England. The Times says the government's chief scientific adviser, Sir Patrick Vallance, is concerned that - in terms of the spread of the virus - the UK could be "two to three weeks behind Spain", where there has been a spike in cases. Meanwhile, the i says the prime minister is under pressure from travel companies to find a more "nuanced" policy that does not rely on a two-week quarantine for those returning from countries without an exemption from the isolation requirements. Other papers focus on the search for Madeleine McCann, who disappeared 13 years ago at the age of three.
