Expensive view: Hikers rewarded by brewery in new promotion

If you love hiking, have we got a promotion for you! A Virginia brewery has announced that it’s seeking a “Chief Hiking Officer,” who would be paid $20,000 just to spend half a year hiking the Appalachian Trail and drinking beer. Devil’s Backbone Brewery, a local favorite, would also be responsible for gearing up the contest winner and will provide them with all the supplies they need for their multi-month trek through the famous mountain range.

This contest isn’t for the squeamish, mind you — you’re competing for a title, after all. Not only that, but there are multiple entrants to contend with as well. If you think you’re the toughest mountaineer around, this contest might be just what you’re looking for. And forget the prize for a moment: Getting to spend half a year, fully supplied, in nature is its own reward.

With all the beer you’ll be getting, just don’t forget to pour it the right way.

Tap or click here to see why pouring your beer incorrectly can cause stomach aches. →
