Violence returns at troubled complex

The 14-unit Sandpiper Apartment complex on Tigerland Avenue has been the site of multiple deadly shootings in the span of a few years, including the slaying of Sirena Franklin on March 11.

District Attorney Hillar Moore says it may be time to say "enough is enough” when it comes to going after the complex again.


John K. Pierre, new chancellor and leader of Southern University's Baton Rouge campus, has a clear vision for how he sees the university progressing in the future.

Pierre wants to prepare students to be "transformational leaders on a long-term basis."


For the LSU women to earn a spot in the 2024 Women's Final Four, they must play with a sense of urgency, beginning with Saturday's Sweet 16 clash with UCLA.

“You don't want to feel that feeling of wishing you could go back and do more,” said guard Hailey Van Lith.
