Good morning,

Last week, President Trump said he was considering banning TikTok, the popular user-generated short form video app, due to its ties to China. (TikTok is the service that is as close to being Vine as Vine was before Twitter shut it down in 2016).

Well, the kids heard that from the White House (whether the president can actually ban an app remains to be seen) and turned to Byte, the video app founded by Dom Hofmann, the creator of Vine.

Byte remained at the top of the most popular apps to download last week. On Thursday alone, the app had 622,000 global downloads. The week before, it averaged 1,050 downloads per day globally.
