BoldBrush Recommends: Victoria KlassenGet Notified When Victoria Posts New Art BiographyVictoria lives on the West Coast of BC, Canada where she enjoys an array of inspiration. She attended Emily Carr College of Art and Design where she studied photography, and where she later attended Langara College Fine Arts Program for painting and sculpture, winning the year end award in sculpture. Her exhibitions include many local solo, duo and group exhibitions, events and art crawls, as well as open studios events. Victoria's artistic journey is a fusion of expressive brushwork, an interplay of both vibrant and muted hues, and the evocative textures of collage that tell a story. Each series of her work is a journey unto itself, a testament to the multifaceted tapestry of human experience as well as the pull of the natural world. In the Radio Days collection, she weaves together fragments of a forgotten era - shortwave radio programs and the graceful arcs of cursive writing - with her own expressive brushwork. This series evokes a sense of nostalgia tinged with the longing for what was and set among bursts of evocative mark making. In other work, she turns her gaze to the natural world, where light filters through the canopy, casting enchanting patterns on the forest floor. Here, simple leaf shapes and nature-inspired forms emerge capturing the essence of the wilderness in all its untamed beauty. It is within the energetic mark making that she expresses her affinity with the natural world and her profound connection with the earth. At the heart of her work lies a passionate commitment to the environment and a desire to convey its fragile beauty to others. As we navigate the complexities of the modern age, she is hopeful that her art acts as a gentle reminder of the connectedness of all living things, and as calls to action to protect the precious ecosystems that surround us and to cherish our human connections. Through the language of paint, collage and mark making, she seeks to spark a dialogue and cultivate a deeper appreciation for the wonders of the world.
