ACLU sues Minnesota over voting rights for felons
The American Civil Liberties Union filed a lawsuit Monday challenging the constitutionality of the state’s voting restrictions on felons serving probation. Convicted felons are prohibited from voting while they are incarcerated. But in Minnesota, the restriction still applies to felons who have completed jail time and are on supervised probation.
 
St. John’s kiln firing is celebration of art, community
The biennial firing draws artists, alumni and former apprentices, who returned for a lighting ceremony on Friday. Roughly 50 volunteers have been working in shifts to help stoke the fires. The firing lasts 10 days.
 
North Dakota lawmaker posts bogus photo of Omar on Facebook
The photo on the home page of Rep. Oley Larsen, of Minot, has been debunked by several sources since it appeared on social media this summer. It's an Associated Press photo taken at a Mogadishu military training campus in 1978, before Omar was born. 
 
Layoffs underway at Del Monte plant in Sleepy Eye
Del Monte Foods began laying off full-time employees at its Sleepy Eye, Minn., plant on Monday. It’s the latest blow to the town whose economy leaned heavily on the facility for nearly 90 years.
