+ WHAT LIES BENEATH: VENUS' SURFACE REVEALED THROUGH THE CLOUDS
Using observations from ESA's Venus Express satellite, scientists have shown for the first time how weather patterns seen in Venus' thick cloud layers are directly linked to the topography of the surface below. Rather than acting as a barrier to our observations, Venus' clouds may offer insight into what lies beneath.

ANNOUNCEMENT
+ REGISTRATION PHASE FOR THE GAIA 2016 DATA RELEASE #1 WORKSHOP
As of today, 12:00 CEST, the registration phase for the Gaia 2016 Data Release #1 Workshop is open.
The workshop will be held on 2-4 November 2016, at the European Space Astronomy Centre (ESAC), near Madrid, Spain, and is jointly organised by ESA and DPAC. It will give attendees a basic introduction to the Gaia mission concept and its performance in space, an overview of the catalogue contents including scientific quality and practical information on how to handle them for science research.
