Da Vinha publishes article on presidential management Luis da Vinha, associate professor of political science, authored an article in the latest edition of the journal Portuguese Journal of Political Science titled “Managing an ‘America First’ Strategy: Donald Trump’s Executive Transition from a Private to a Public Executive.” The article assesses the distinct challenges in managing public and private organizations. In particular, da Vinha analyzes the challenges President Trump encountered in employing his corporate management style in the presidency and the effects it has had on America’s ability to lead the liberal international order. The Portuguese Journal of Political Science is the flagship journal of the Lisbon-based Political Observatory, a nonprofit scientific research association for political studies founded in 2009 by the Scientific Board of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities of the NOVA University of Lisbon. The Political Observatory has recently gained autonomy and is now defined as an independent national research center of excellence.
