The Lunch Line: Vax rule coming for Louisiana students. And pictures of the lunar eclipse

By Bob Warren

Student vaccine requirement: Students will have to get COVID vaccinations to attend schools, daycares and universities under a proposed Louisiana Health Department rule. The rule would add the shot to the state-required immunization schedule. Blake Paterson is following this developing story.

Moon shadow: Did you stay up late (or get up super early) to check out the moon? It was only the longest-lasting lunar eclipse in the last, oh, I don’t know, six centuries ... Yeah, I slept through it, too. Fear not: Our talented photographers took lots of pictures.

In the details: Some big news broke out of NOPD last night. New Orleans police brass yanked the off-duty security work privileges of 26 officers while the department investigates alleged misconduct. The 26 officers in question made more than $1 million combined last year in detail work, our John Simerman reports.

Hi-profile pitchman: Developers pitching a $325 million casino-resort in the Slidell area rolled out a big name supporter this week – Drew Brees. The surefire Hall of Fame Saints quarterback, now a TV guy for NBC, was in a video for the casino developers touting the sports complex the casino has promised to bankroll -- if St. Tammany voters give the casino a thumbs-up next month.

Hope you enjoyed the Lunch Line. Thanks for taking a break with us today.
