Yesterday, I was talking to a friend about the pandemic and the vaccine for Covid-19. I told him that initially I was a little reluctant to get the vaccine. But now, after not traveling or eating in restaurants for a year—I’m eager for it. “Just stick it right in my neck!” I said. Alas, I likely won’t be eligible for the vaccine till late Spring or early Summer. I was a little jealous when he told me that, because he’s clergy, he now qualifies to receive the vaccine. I joked that I was going to quickly get ordained myself. I think it makes a lot of sense to vaccinate clergy. Throughout this past year, pastors have been doing the best they can to minister from a distance, but ultimately, shepherding is an in-person enterprise. People need you in the room. They need to feel that hand on their shoulder, to have you be present when they’re in pain. I was grateful to see this story showing when and where pastors can get vaccinated and reporting on some of the stories of pastors getting the vaccine. If you’re ordained, you might want to check it out and consider getting vaccinated yourself. Don’t miss our free webinar with Scot McKnight on Forming a Culture of Goodness in Your Church.
