For most of my life I have felt the constant presence of Spirit. In fact, one of my earliest memories is of walking up a very large hill to get to my kindergarten class and asking the angels to "please loan me a pair of wings" to help me "fly to school" (ha!). In fact, my connection to the unseen realms and devotion to Spirit has also fueled the creative fires of my evolutionary journey as a painter.
As with most formal art studies, I first began by painting theHuman Figure.I studied the body and its potential to convey beauty and evoke the wide range of human pathos through figurative abstractions. My collection of figurative abstractions reflects my desire to explore my life's journey and the dynamic relationships I experienced through my childhood, marriage, motherhood and more.
My next evolution as an artist came when I chose to stop looking outside myself, and closed my eyes to explore the inner realms of my emotions and feelings. I made a conscious choice toPaint from Within. That's when I began painting what I call --"emotional abstractions," where I literally was "blind to the outside world" and tuned into the inner resonance of what was inside me. What emerged was an abundance of emotionally-charged energetic abstractions that seem to sing and dance across many canvases.
Today, my art has continued to evolve and the pathways have gone deeper within myself...as I follow my heart's connection to Spirit. What I found was rather surprising! My art had always had a fluid and abstract nature to it, but the deeper I went within the core of my being, the more I discovered a specific grouping ofSacred Geometriesthat seem to unite me with the beautiful matrix of Spirit, Earth and all living beings. Because this work is so very different from what was created earlier, I kept it closeted...until now. You can find these paintings on my sister website,Art of the Akash. (Akash (akasha) is a Sanskrit word that means "Spirit" or "ether".) |
