Yemen’s children need your help
|
Dear Supporter, The crisis in Yemen is growing more horrific by the day. After nearly four years of civil war, the UN has warned that Yemen is now on the brink of famine. If you’ve been following the news, you’ll know that children are bearing the brunt of this crisis. Children like the little one pictured above. And 11-year-old Fatemah, pictured below, forced to run for her life when her home was bombed. These children and their families are among the 14 million Yemenis facing imminent starvation. Supporter, can you please make an emergency donation to help UNHCR rush more life-saving aid to Yemen? You might have seen the heartbreaking images of emaciated children caught up in this crisis. Some 400,000 children are severely malnourished, and those displaced by violence are especially vulnerable. Unless urgent action is taken, more children risk becoming statistics. More lives will be lost as an entire generation of children faces starvation on an unprecedented scale. |

UNHCR is one of the few humanitarian aid agencies in Yemen, with almost 200 staff helping families forced to flee their homes and struggling to survive. However, the scale of this emergency, and the suffering of Yemen’s people, have reached unprecedented levels. Resources are fast running out. Supporter, you can help alleviate the suffering of these families. Please send a donation to deliver more emergency aid to Yemen. Your gift will help displaced families buy food, as well as receive life-saving medical treatment, clean water, safe shelter and essential items like sleeping mats and blankets. The UN’s Humanitarian Coordinator in Yemen, Lise Grande, recently issued this dire warning to the world: “One child is dying every 10 minutes because of the conflict… We are literally looking at hundreds of thousands, maybe even millions of people who may not survive.” UNHCR is doing everything it can to save lives but, given the sheer scale of this emergency, the only way we can continue this work is with your help. |

Supporter, as a supporter of our emergency appeals in the past, I am calling on your compassion and generosity once again. The people of Yemen need you. Please help us get life-saving aid on the ground before it is too late for children and families already at crisis point. Thank you, Naomi Steer National Director |

"Every night we sleep hungry. Often we dream that we are eating all night,” says Fatemah. Her parents cannot afford basic food items like flour, rice or oil, and she lives with the constant ache of hunger. UNHCR/M. Hamoud. |
