Do you have a dispensary located near you? Depending on where you live, even if in an adult-use market, the odds vary. Oregon, for example, has 18.3 dispensaries per 100,000 residents—the highest among adult-use Western states. In turn, the Oregon Liquor and Cannabis Commission issued a moratorium on cannabis licenses in April, noting a crowded marketplace. California, the cannabis epicenter of the United States, if not the larger global market, contrasts with only 2.4 dispensaries per 100,000 residents. This is largely due to 67% of California jurisdictions prohibiting cannabis retail, creating a different kind of crowded marketplace in the 33% of jurisdictions that do. One dispensary you may be familiar with, no matter where you live, is Planet 13’s Las Vegas SuperStore, which is hard to miss at 112,000 square feet and about 2 miles from the Las Vegas Strip. CBT Associate Editor Andriana Ruscitto explores Planet 13’s Las Vegas location, as well as the company’s additional locations and plans for expansion, in this month’s CBT: Dispensary cover story. And if you’ve never been to the Las Vegas SuperStore, the opportunity awaits for those who attend Cannabis Conference Aug. 23-25 at the Paris Las Vegas Hotel & Casino. -Zach Mentz, Senior Editor |
