The UK’s Covid-19 alert level has been lowered as the country’s top medics said the threat of the NHS being overwhelmed has receded.
View email online | | | | | Feb 25, 2021 | | | | | | Good evening, The Prime Minister’s announcement about the route out of lockdown was met with a huge sigh of relief from most of us. While we are not out of the woods yet, the speed of the vaccine roll-out and the falling number of cases, do give us cause for some hope. But there are certain sectors which have been hit more severely than others by the pandemic, many of them in the world of entertainment, from theatres and cinemas to pubs and nightclubs. Now at last, they can at least see the way forward. While they know they will not be the first to open, they can start to plan for that eventuality. For those running Preston nightlife, that is good news and they are rightly feeling optimistic. Because when that sector does burst back into life, it may well find that it is boomtime. Once people lose their natural caution, they will be desperate for a good time to make up for the year of lockdown we have all endured. While some of us may be a little too old for nightclubs, they are a valuable and vibrant part of the local economy. Until next time, take care, Gillian Parkinson Editor Email me at [email protected] | |
