Public consultation on alternatives: call for comments

Deadline: 29 January 2024

HSE has received an application for authorisation for the following substance/use:

Reference: AFA047-01
Applicant: Tyco Electronics
Application type: Review report
Substance: Chromium Trioxide (includes Acids generated from chromium trioxide and their oligomers", when used in aqueous solutions).
Use: Industrial use of chromium trioxide in conversion coating and passivation of circular and rectangular connectors in order to meet the requirements of international standards and special requirements of industries subject to harsh environments.

Article 64 in the UK REACH Regulation makes provisions for HSE to obtain and use additional information on possible alternatives or technologies as part of the opinion forming process.

Any third parties with an interest in the application are strongly encouraged to share any relevant information.

Scientific and technical information on possible alternatives or technologies should be submitted directly to HSE using the commenting webform and templates by 29 January 2024.

Non-confidential comments will be published on HSEs website.
