Christmas is a time for feasting but it is also a time for relaxing and catching up with friends and family. And you don't want to have to cook the whole time while everyone else is enjoying themselves. This week our contributing cook Elizabeth Hewson has two suggestions to make your festive table enjoyable and easy. Firstly, her gin-cured salmon gravlax is an easy and impressive feature dish that can be prepared days ahead and brought to the table at once to impress your guests. Then her Christmas tree cake is the kind of dish I love. It's beautiful and absolutely a cinch to make. As well as delicious. Winning!

Happy Christmas to all. Thank you for cooking with us this year. We have loved sharing so many beautiful recipes with you. We will be back with a fresh set of culinary ideas in 2025.
