Twitter is telling all its 330 million users to consider changing their passwords (on World Password Day, no less) after the company noticed it was accidentally storing them in clear text. "Password hashing" is an industry standard, and can prevent a hacker from quickly exploiting the information if it ever leaks. However, in Twitter's case, a software bug prevented the hashing from being completed, the company's CTO said.
