The surprise move by the Turnbull Government to scrap the 457 visa program has prompted responses from both sides of the fence voicing either strong support from workers’ advocates or strong criticism from employers and recruiters.

 



The head of a well-known Australian accounting software company has slammed the government's move to get rid of the 457 temporary worker visa system, saying it could "severely hinder the growth of the nation’s tech industry". But a group represeting workers has praised the move.

Sam Varghese opines that Malcolm Turnbull’s latest move, to abolish the 457 temporary worker visa system, and tighten the rules for such visas, basically caters to the anti-immigration lobby in a desperate attempt to ride a populist wave to get re-elected.

Digital security firm Gemalto asks, "Do you know where your data is?", revaling 1,792 disclosed data breaches in 2016 led to almost 1.4 billion data records being compromised.

A Windows user has got around Microsoft's latest effort to force users of older Windows versions to upgrade to Windows 10.

The peak body representing consumer interests in telecommunications has called for greater transparency and accountability about service performance by the National Broadband Network.
